DJ'S TRIBUTE TO ELVIS

Thank you, DJ, for sharing this with me. I think it's beautiful. It made me cry. Let me warn you, you'll need a kleenex or two reading these

I have heard that song,"Softly As I Leave You" one time and I cried. I cry just thinking about it. There is a video I have where Elvis is on his plane leaving the runway and it bothers me real bad to see it leave. Some may call me crazy but I feel this way when I watch, "Love Me Tender" and "Flaming Star also. I can't even imagine being at a concert and seeing him leave the stage when the concert was over, although I would have almost given anything to see a concert. He was a very amazing man. What can I say....He was very special to me and will be the rest of my life. I thank God for the beautiful memories Elvis left us here on earth. If I had ever gotten to see him I certainly would have thanked him for his wonderful contribution to our world. It was the one thing money could never buy.

MY TRIBUTE POEMS

The Gift Of Two

It was January 8th, 1935 when they entered this world,
To a young and beautiful brown eyed girl.
One went home to be with the Lord,
To share one He could afford.
So He doubled the voice and made them strong.
Then one went home to sing before the throne.
He gave us one to enjoy here on earth.
The other went home to show the angels his worth.
Elvis, you sang Rock-n-Roll with a beauty untold.
You gave us Gospel and Country exactly the same.
That's why you went down in the Hall Of Fame.
We miss you so very badly it's true.
Only from God in heaven was sent the Gift Of Two.

DJ, I've read a LOT of poems about Elvis, but I think this one is the most touching and beautiful one I've ever read! Thanks for sharing it. :-)

The Gift Of A Mother's Love

There was a little boy born in Tupelo,
There were hard times and he didn't know where his life would go
He had a beautiful mother who loved him so deep
So close to her heart she wanted to keep
She worried and tried to do the best that she could,
She had done the best as she knew she should.

When Christmas came around it was a happy sound
The love deep inside just couldn't abound
When Elvis' career took off and he traveled so much,
It was his mother's love, confidence, and encouragement that brought that special touch

The white Christmas tree that he bought her that year,
Was so special to her that it brought tears
What a beautiful life Elvis was living
It was instilled in his heart, mind and soul of always giving

One day tragedy struck and she went to sleep
Into the heavenly Fathers arms He would love and keep
Elvis was so lonely sad and blue,
For his dear mother that he loved so true
He went through her things and found a Christmas list.
Slowly unfolding it he couldn't resist.

As a tear fell from his eyes and smudged the ink below
It was from this list the true gift would show
Slowly folding it up he put it away
He carried that list until his final day
This was that special gift sent from above
It came through the arms of A Mother's Love

Cradled By The Stars

There are only a few that light the stars in the sky.
God sent a special man that made millions faint and sigh.
He sang Rock-n-Roll, Gospel and Country too.
To show that his love was tender and true.
He knew what it was to be down and out,
From his heart he helped many.
That's what it was all about.

Gods gift was a voice that floated on angels wings.
And to this day we hear an angel sing
Your beauty shines through like diamonds in the night,
Even though you've taken that heavenly flight.
To millions of fans you'll live on forever.
This love for you will never be severed.
From earth to heaven, Elvis, we know where you are.
Our King of Rock-n-Roll is Cradled By The Stars.

An Extraordinary Man

There was An Extraordinary Man
Who came to sing,
Around the world
Only he was known as the Rock-N-Roll King
He sang from the heart with beautiful expressions too
And within our very being we felt it through and through

From Tupelo to Memphis he would rise
With a beautiful voice that could totally mesmerize
There was Gospel, Blues and Country and Rock-N-Roll
That came from the very depths of his soul

There were hard times in his life and he knew the score
He helped many charities the downtrodden and the poor
With the courage of a tiger he lived his life
He went through a lot of stress and strife

There were good times and bad and also times that were very, very sad

The memories will never fade from our hearts and our minds
We Love You Tender and We'll Always Remember
Until this day one thing's for sure,
The intrerpretaton of his music will always endure
From One Very Extraordinary Man

Some Thoughts From DJ

After all the books and articles I've read on Elvis, these are my own personal thoughts and views as to how he may have felt about things in his life and times. I hope you enjoy this poem. It's truly the impression I have recieved from reading about a sensitive and beautiful human being who gave of himself, up until the very end.

(This is just a warning, the following poem is very emotional!!)

Through The Eyes Of A Legend

Step into my shoes and take a look at what I see
This is for you, from me
There was fame and fortune and money to go around
But after all was said and done, look at what I found
A sadness that can't be explained
Friends who were to be loyal caused so much hurt and pain
I went through so much during my life
I lost my daughter and my wife
And my mother too
And she was my friend, loyal and true

I climbed the ladder of success

But there's one thing that I must confess
Out of all of this, my fans loved me so much
Standing beside the edge of the stage, they just wanted a special touch
I gave all I could to the world, and then the curtain came down
In a lonely room with no one around came a wonderful peaceful sound
It was then I knew what it was all about
This world doesn't understand, I wanted to shout
It's not fame and fortune that makes you happy, you see
It's Gods Perfect Love within you and me
We'll meet again one day, never to be apart
This comes from the Love deep within my heart
